my dad bought his kia about 10 years ago and is still running and looking just fine

there is a small rust spot and that is only from a truck kicking up a rock and scratching the paint

other than that 1 spot it is perfectly fine

i think you have kia and yugo mixed up

Pede must be unlucky. I don't know anyone who had an engine ruined by ethanol. E10 has been required in Minnesota for about 15 years.

You must be very unlucky person. I have used E10 for over 15 years in small and large engines and I have yet to encounter a single Ethanol related issue.

Running higher than 10% only voids your warranty if it can be proven a failure was related to the fuel. If your car is past warranty, as ours are, then it is a personal choice whether to experiment. Note the many people who experiment with higher blends don't report problems, it is the people who don't even try it.

"In fact, running your car on alcohol actually makes the engine last longer. You could probably get two to three times the engine life if you run your car on alcohol instead of gasoline. This is because running the internal combustion engine on alcohol produces no carbon soot which is one of the major causes of engine wear and tear. Studies have shown that cars and trucks in Brazil and the U.K. that used only alcohol lasted almost three times as long as their gasoline and diesel counterparts."

Cornhick. I understand when there are warranty issues. But to say across the board, that in the long run engines run better on E0 is not a true statement.

If you use an ethanol level higher than listed in the owner's manual (10%), you will void your warranty.

There are potentially two types of problems from high levels of ethanol in a non-flex fuel vehicle. Too high levels may cause poor running or an immediate error code. There could also be problems that will not shiow up for a while.

I would just run regular gas without ethanol it saves you money in the long run to not use any ethanol

there was a test on non flex fuel cars and their chevy got to e55 before any error codes but none of their cars was a kia

as for fuel economy people think they tested it right but reality is they have differences like driving less efficiently from one tank to the next and more city driving where traffic basically has you stopped most of the time so they would get worse economy no matter what they use

if i can burn the e30 as standard from the blending pump then it would be cheaper

ethanol being worse economy is not really the problem - how you drive is

In all seriousness, why would you want to run that crap? Less economy man.

jamieg2012, try adding a gallon of E85 to your next tank. Then try 2, then 3, etc., until you get a check engine light (CEL). The CEL means too much oxygen in your exhaust, so won't hurt your car, but you don't want to run without a working CEL. When you get the CEL, you can just add gas to your next fill. If that doesn't clear the CEL, your auto parts store will likely do it for free.
